Guru Puja
Guru Maharaj Ji
London 6/21-22/1979

What is Guru Puja? Why have we all come here? Ha, we came for Holi and we'll all come for Hans Jayanti and we are here for Guru Puja. Guru Puja, if you have a guru, if you have a Perfect Master, you can't do anything but worship him every day of your life. You tell me, if you really have that Perfect Master, in your life, what can you do except to worship him every day? Get up and worship him, pray, know, surrender. Every day of our lives! And yet we all come here, you know, just to experience what Guru Maharaj Ji has to give us, just to experience what Guru Maharaj Ji has to give us more and more and more. Just to experience to be putting, to be put back on the road, to experience, to be brought into that harmony again.

Everybody tries to lead their lives in one way or the other. You know, everybody has got a set pattern. The French have it different and then every French has it different. The Germans have it different and then every German has it different. The Americans have it different and then every American has it different. The Englishmen, of course, have it different and then every Englishman has it different. Hold everywhere, you know, Canadians have it different and every Canadian has it different.

And yet no-one in this world is concentrating on the most important thing. Why are we here? What are we doing in this world? Because all the things that we see, all the things that we perceive, all the things that we want, all the things that we desire. Are these the things? Are these really and truly the important things why we are all here for? Ha ha. What is the most important? What is truly important? It's that real love that we all want in our lives for a change. That real understanding that we all want in our lives for a change. That truth that we all want. That love that we all want. The love that flows, the love that is really true.

You know, not the idiosyncrasies of this world, not the you and me's of this world but really that truth that Guru Maharaj Ji can give us, you know and it's just like Padarthanand was saying, you know there are people who can't relate to me, who can relate to Knowledge but can't relate to me and then there are people who can relate to me but can't relate to Knowledge and it's really true, it's really true that these people who want to relate. (very loud) Don't we, we have to go beyond that point. There's nothing to relate. A tributary that is destined to bound, that is bound to join the river can't sit there and say "Hmm, I don't know if I want to go there." A river cannot flow upstream, a river cannot flow upstream, it is a law of nature. A river cannot say but but, you know, "My destiny is to join the ocean. If I just make a quick right here and go over this mountain the ocean is right there. Then I can join it." No. Why? Isn't that what river does? Isn't what the big rivers who can make it and constantly flow and flow, flow and flow and flow and flow and flow for miles and miles and then just merge into the ocean. Isn't what those, isn't isn't what those rivers are doing and can't the river decide about a quick left over this mountain and under the pass and over the bridge and here I'll be.

You see, this is what we have to understand in our lives that's not the picture, we paint the picture, we paint a picture.See like, the famous picture of Mona Lisa's smiling and the word "mona lisa." I know that in India people wouldn't relate to it. There's nothing to relate. They've never seen the Mona Lisa", they've never heard the name, period. I mean, maybe in the high class and the high societies and people who have visited America or have lived there for a long time might know but so far I was in India, you know, with my friends, never heard of Mona Lisa. Didn't know who she was, I couldn't care less who she was, as a matter of fact, I didn't even have a concept about her. In America or in England or in France or in Germany people, snap, (snaps his fingers) Mona Lisa and she's smiling. Don't you think Mona Lisa ever cried? After, probably after she got finished with that painting she probably cried and cried, probably got sore all over, sitting there in one position all the time smiling. And this is the way we paint the picture of happiness, the way we paint the picture of Guru Maharaj Ji, this is the way we paint the picture of Knowledge. There's sweet little us, and there's the sweet little Knowledge, you know, and "Boompf" it's just gonna happen. Who needs Guru Maharaj Ji? Or to some there is us and there is Guru Maharaj Ji and who needs Knowledge?

We all have our pictures, we all have our ideas, we all have our philosophies so to speak and yet which one is true? Which one is in fact true? Who can paint a picture of the ultimate? [dissolve] God. Everybody has a picture of God. You know, children (sucks snot) they have a picture of God, This bi-i-i-ig, hu-u-uge man, you know, that's got, that can fly in a leap you know able to cross tall buildings in one leap, faster than a speeding bullet, just immaculate thing, immaculate being. We have it, in our own ways. People who believe in Ram, people who believe in Krishna, people who believe in Mohammed, people who believe in Christ, people who believe in, in Buddha have their own Gods in their own different formats. I mean, everyone of us has our different ideas of what that Creator really is. Everyone of us thinks that we know, we are right and yet, all it is, is just our painting.

And Guru Maharaj Ji comes, you know, Guru Maharaj Ji comes into this world and everybody thinks that Guru Maharaj Ji is also going to pick up a piece of canvas, a bunch of paint brushes, paint and start painting a picture and we'll all see the picture and Ta-da, that'll be it. And we Guru Maharaj Ji comes into this world and we all think that we know the kind of picture Guru Maharaj Ji is going to paint and when Guru Maharaj Ji comes into this world, that's true, always comes into this world but he doesn't paint a picture, no. We translate, after a Perfect Master leaves, disciples take what he has said and try to paint it into a picture but never the Perfect Master. Perfect Master never paints a picture cause he knows there isn't a picture to paint. That picture that he would paint is already within every one of us. That thing, the ultimate goal of life is within already within all of us and yet we're ignorant. We do not know. We are unaware and that's no sin, that's no crime. If we do not know, we do not know and that's the why every time the Perfect Master comes into this world to give us, to give us, to teach us perfection. If we all knew, do you think a Perfect Master would come? Do you really think so?

Darshan Section - Song: Hold Me Closer

Hold Me Closer

You are the answer to my only prayer
You are the Master from above
I was so lonely til You came along
With the wonder of Your love
I don't know how I ever met You so
You are my light, my destiny
Oh Maharaji I love You so
You mean everything to me

If You should ever, ever go away
There'd be lonely eyes to cry
The sun above would never shine again
There's be tear drops in the sky

So hold me closer and never let me go
You are my light, my destiny
Oh Maharaji I love You so
You mean everything to me
repeat

I want this world to see Your radiant face
It brings sweet gladness to my heart
I know I'll always always feel Your grace
If we're never apart

Maharaji I Am Bound To You

Maharaji I am bound to You
In love and devotion
You have saved me
Really from the deepest coldest ocean

Maharaji I am lost without You
Afraid to doubt You
Too in love to turn away
Maharaji You are the only one who loves me
Regardless of my imperfections

Love the very air You breathe
Each ray of sun that warms Your body
You reside within an infinite ocean of love and compassion
repeat

Maharaji I am bound to You
In love and devotion
You have saved me
Really from the deepest coldest ocean

Maharaji I live to sing the glory of Your name
Oh Maharaji all the world will bow before You
And join their hearts and play this holy game

Love the very air You breathe
Each ray of sun that warms Your body
You reside within an infinite ocean of love and compassion
repeat

Every person is crying to be saved. And yet even they don't know, they don't that's what they want. Everybody wants love. Everybody pursues love in their own different way. And yet, what the real love they want is the love that only Guru Maharaj Ji can give them. The true love that they are looking for is only what Guru Maharaj Ji can really bring to them. All this happiness and pleasure pursuits and wishful thinking, every day that we go through. Only Guru Maharaj Ji can make it happen. Only Guru Maharaj Ji can make it possible.

I have a very good question. When Hanuman was there and Ram was there I mean if you don't know what the story is, anyway there was Lord Ram in this world and there is a whole story that happened. I mean obviously he was born and he was grown up and you have to understand that he was also very he was married and he lost his wife. His wife got kidnapped by the terrorist of that time, Ravan. And Ravan takes her away because he likes her. He has been intimidated.

And Ram is looking for his wife. And what they have to do is they have to build a bridge between India and Lanka, Colombo. To cross it. And so they just throw rocks in the you know in the water and the rocks float.

Now when we say that, that's that's kind of odd. Now how are you going to make rocks float? You know and if those rocks were floating then, they should be floating now. But something that is very much true is that there is lot of coral reef between there to there, India to Colombo. And so it'd be very easy to just put rocks on it and they would "float" because they would be supported by the coral reef that's underneath.

Nevertheless that's sort of a scientific explanation. Forget about that scientific explanation. Let's just stick to one fact.

That they were throwing these rocks in the water, in the ocean and they were floating. Now tell me something. When Hanuman saw this, when Hanuman sees that this big, huge heavy rock that's thrown in the water and it floats, what did he think? Did he think it was a miracle? Did he think it was a hoax? What did he think? What went through Hanuman's brain at that time? (GMJ sucks snot up his nose) Hanuman was the devotee who was helping Ram build the bridge.

And it's a very good question. What did that poor Hanuman think? And he didn't - I don't think he thought it was a miracle. How could it be a miracle? What is a miracle? When you have recognized the Creator, nothing is a miracle. Everything is very common. You can see then incredible things happen every day and you can never call it a miracle.

You know. It's like a man trying to create a mould of a body. And if this man takes his knife and makes a moustache in that statue it's no miracle. Is it? I mean he is making it. He can put ears on. Big ears; small ears. He can put on a moustache or he can erase the moustache. He can do whatever he wants to do. It's not a miracle anymore because there is something that he has got to go beyond that point. It's the true realization. It's that unity, that unification with yourself - getting rid of your ego, getting rid of your barriers, getting rid of your amazement, so to say. The impossibilities and just having that complete faith and complete surrender and then you can never call it a miracle.

You know. I mean right now it's supposed to rain. According to BBC 1 and BBC 2 and ITV. Now it isn't raining. So what is it? It's not a miracle. It's not. You know It is not. You know this one thing that they have got? It's called a hang mouth a hanging mouth expression. Your lower jaw drops down and your eyes sort of pop up and a voice out of your stomach goes, "Huuh?" It's called a dumb expression. The guy is so stupid, he doesn't know what's going on.

Now miracle, in actions of a Perfect Master, of a perfect being, miracle is the same expression. Lower jaw drops, eyes sort of wide open and a voice coming out going, "Huuh?" Is what our miracles are?

But if we know, if we have surrendered ourselves, if we have joined ourselves, then what miracle can there be? We have understood everything is a miracle and nothing is a miracle. Everything is a surprise; nothing is a surprise. Because everything is then love. Everything then is peace. Everything then is tranquality. Everything is real.

There is not a reality being created out of an artificial means. There isn't an artificial means and a reality being created. No. All that goes away. All the confusion goes away. All the darkness goes away.

I Love You by Rich Neel with One Foundation

There you sat before me, your silken hair flowin',
All around your shining face,
Reminding me of the darkness, silent blackness,
Sitting as a backdrop to the glorious moon,
Glorious moon, glorious moon.

Something made me feel like I barely understand
What a pearl-drop of perfection gleam could exist in one's eyes.
Yet the sparkle in your glance made my heart start to dance
As the sky lit up by a shooting star, a shooting star, a shooting star.

So much was growing in me that I hardly could speak a word;
My tongue was twisted by your presence.
To cry or to laugh out, sit still or leap up off my chair,
I was too spellbound to reason, too spellbound to reason, too spellbound to reason.

By what name can I call you, what word can I say, that won't fall short lifelessly to the floor?
No sculptor could portray such an immaculate creation, perfect in every detail.
I'll call you my beloved, sweet precious Lord; That is if my voice does not fail.
I cannot comprehend the adoration I feel comin; Maharaj Ji, my heart wants to wail.
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
Thank you for coming today.
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
Maharaj Ji, what more can I say?

If gold could be melted and formed into a body, yours was the one that was chosen.
How could someone shine so bright, have skin so soft and smooth?
Are you baby, child, man or woman, baby, child, man or woman, baby, child, man or woman?

You're so far beyond me, I hate to even try to describe something I never can.
But let me simply say that I love you and adore you, want to worship the very ground
Touched by your precious Lotus Feet, Lotus Feet, your precious Lotus Feet.

I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
Thank you for coming today.
Maharaj Ji, what more can I say?
