This is part of a speech by Maharaji aka Prem Rawat that has been formatted as poetry by himself or one of his minions and published as one of sixteen folders/cards/pamphlets providing a pretty complete overview of the doctrinal concepts he teaches. This speech would have been better titled as "What Knowledge Won't Do For You" -

These, or similar positive changes, are exactly what the claims for the benefits of meditation have been for millenia.

It will, according to Prem Rawat, provide incredible and invisible feelings that will have no visible effect on your life or behaviour and will not be noticeable by others. He claims it will quench a supernatural "thirst" you do not know you have but, he says, you will recognise you have it, if you just listen to enough of his speeches, either live, or recorded.

Prem Rawat Unrehearsed Poetry: What Knowledge Will Do

A lot of people expect that
Knowledge will make them
complete human beings.

But each of us is already
a complete human being.
We could not be more complete.

Nothing can be done
to embellish a human being.

Knowledge is
not about changing behavior.
Rather, it is
about feeling more centered within,
finding peace inside
without any catalysts.

It may not bring
outward changes in personality.
But it will bring
a fundamental change within.

There will be a shift,
and we can find peace, joy, and
harmony, and most importantly,
we can each find our self-our real self

Will Knowledge solve our problems?
It has nothing to do with problems.

Imagine a lake with a magnificent view.
By going to this lake,
will it take care of our hunger?
Will it remove our problems? No.

It will give us something else
that we couldn't get, even if we found
the solution to all our problems.

The purpose of it
is much more fundamental.
It is to quench the thirst
that is already within us.

This is not an aspirin or a tissue
for when we feel a little sneeze
coming on. It is not for smoothing out
little inconveniences in our lives.
This is something else.

This is not about darkness;
it's about light.
It's about lighting lamps
with the light of Knowledge.
Maybe it's not a big bonfire.
Maybe it's just a little lamp,
but it gets rid of the darkness.

There is no claim that Knowledge
will make a person successful in
business or that it has any health
benefits.

People have been touched
in a very, very simple way.
They still have to pay their bills
and do all the things
that they have to do.

But they can find an appreciation
within themselves.
Wherever they are,
they can turn within and find joy.

Knowledge doesn't tell
us how to live our life,
nor does it say.
"You must be happy."

All it says is,
"Here, turn on the light."

Then we see what we want,
what our heart desires.
We feel the thirst
and understand
what we are thirsty for.

This is not about pushing buttons
and ringing bells or chanting a chant.
It is about drinking
from the fountain of life
until the thirst is quenched.

Knowledge will not fit in a box.
It never has and never will.
This is not about causes,
politics, or religion.

This is about the inner feeling,
about a heart being content,
about being awake.

This is about love.
This is about finding joy
and living in this world in peace.

Maharaji
