Prem Rawat's Fixation on the Moon Landing
As I recall some mates and I left the beach to go and have lunch and watch Armstrong walking on the moon. It didn't take long to get over any excitement and accept it and forget about it. I don't think too many people thought "Man has landed on the moon and we have fulfilled our Destiny." It had little or no effect on the personal lives of 99.99% of human beings.
For Prem Rawat it has apparently been a different story throughout his career. You can accept it had more importance to him when he was the Lord of the Universe but it keeps eating away at him, he keeps repeating that the milestone failure of man going to the moon means that he is the only possible source of peace left.

Just imagine, America was able to send so many Apollos to the moon, but did she gain peace? Was America satisfied? Now if she is satisfied why is she fighting with Vietnam? She is not satisfied.
Just imagine, America was able to send so many Apollos to the moon, but did it get that peace? Was America satisfied? Now, if it is satisfied, then why is it fighting with Vietnam? It is not satisfied. Why?

The idea of peace did not start yesterday. Peace as being the mark to achieve. This goal was set a long long time ago. And I know that civilization is very proud of itself for all the things they have achieved but alas, on a threshold that was established a long time ago for all of humanity, has not been able to be accomplished. Going to the moon has been accomplished.

Peace, is also, when it comes to theory, a very complicated thing and this I figured from just pure deduction. I figured that it took a lot to put man on the moon. It really did. There was a lot of technology and sure enough and this is on behalf of the humanity. Man was placed on the moon. But peace still eludes the world so it's got to be really complicated. More complicated than going to the moon.
Be A Devotee, GURU MAHARAJA - MIAMI, FLORIDA, DECEMBER 25, 1979
You can go to the moon; you can go to Mars. You can go to the sun; you can go to - I mean it's completely conceivable - completely conceivable - that a hundred years from now man might decide to go to the sun and execute a completely successful landing, too. But what is that going to do? Man's already been to the moon. What has that done? Absolutely nothing. Not a single thing has happened. All the unsatisfaction has grown on its own steady but solid pace.
LOVE: A Plentiful Reason Guru Maharaj Ji's Satsang at the Holi Festival Miami Beach, Florida. Sunday, March 20, 1977
If we would have found some kind of a satisfaction that we were looking for by going to the moon, there would have been no necessity to go to Venus or Mars. And we could go on and on and on and on and on - but how long?
THE ABANDONED QUESTION Guru Maharaj Ji's Satsang at the Holi Festival, Miami Beach, Florida, April 8, 1978
When the astronauts went to the moon, and there was very little gravity, and they were floating around in midair, it definitely did not change the purpose of their life. The purpose of the life was still the same
Maharaji: Brighton Aspirants, 1988
"If man could only go to the moon, my God, look at all the problems it would solve." So he did. Walked around, looked around, brought back a few rocks. So, all of this technology has come. Promises go on. Someday it will be better. Someday everything will be wonderful.
WORDS OF PEACE FOR EUROPE 29th June 2010
Peace. … Is it possible? It doesn't require a prayer. It requires an understanding. It does not require a wish. It requires determination. Nor does it require definitions. It requires clarity. If we can go to the moon, it should certainly be possible to reach the shortest distance there is from one to one's heart, and feel that joy that exists inside of us.
The Greatest Truth of All a Book by Prem Rawat
What is the point of this analogy? The point is that all that we do is to be happy. We want to be happy. This includes going to the moon. It includes sending out signals to extraterrestrials, digging for oil-all the things we do.
Peace Is Possible a Book by Prem Rawat
We have sent a rocket to the moon, we have made tiny mobile phones, we have removed money and can buy things with little plastic cards. So much progress in technology, but the peace inside us and human dignity are not progressing.
